4.5 out of 5 stars

A brilliant biopic that creates a deep impact. The film is based on Jallianwala Bagh Massacre and how Sardar Udham Singh kills Michael O’Dwyer who was responsible for it. The film happens in the 1940s and is narrated along with a series of flashbacks. Shoojit Sircar’s first in this genre and he has done a remarkable job. This is the story of a lesser known hero yet it has its heart in place. Vicky Kaushal has come up with a great performance. The only problem with the film is that it doesn’t really get serious or interesting until the second half. Most people might turn themselves off by the slow and confused narrative in the first half. The massacre scenes have been shot well and is the highlight of the film. A must watch
