2.5 out of 5 stars

A seen many times story with a seen many times screenplay. Yet, the film works to some extent because this age-old formula cannot go wrong easily. Dhanush is a petty thief who steals from a martial arts school. Sneha gets released from Jail and comes to Chennai to kill the owner of the martial art school. She bumps into Dhanush and realizes that he is her long-lost son. After the flashback Dhanush avenges the death of his father. There is no giveaway or spoiler since you know this in the very first scene of the film. That’s the big drawback of the film. Lack of any twist or unexpected turn. Infact, if you have watched the trailer, you would know the full story. Towards the end the film tries to turn into a sport movie with a tournament similar to the director’s Ethir Neechal. Lack of proper comedy and weak heroine related scenes makes the film slow at times. The stunts using Adimurai techniques (an ancient martial art form) are good and will take the film to the masses.
