4.5 out of 5 stars

Very rarely we get movies like #PowerPandi and so they need to be celebrated. It is a story of an aged stunt master; Power Pandi, who leads a retired life with his son, daughter-in-law and two grandchildren. While his son treats him well, there are a few instances which causes friction between the two. At one stage, PP feels that he is missing something in life and decides to go on a road trip in search of his first love. What happens forms the plot. The film is almost flawless and Dhanush’s hard work is visible in every frame. He is brilliant in his debut as a director. Rajkiran as Power Pandi has delivered an award deserving performance. Dhanush in his cameo adds a bit more sweetness to the proceedings. The film’s soul is Sean Rolden’s soulful music. Every song, every BGM and even the Brucelee sound fight showcases his talent. The songs will be amongst the year’s best. There are several scenes that will touch you. True, some scenes can remind you of Manja Pai and that is because Rajkiran’s presence in both the films. However, this one is a class apart. Revathi comes towards the end of the movie but her scenes are the lifeline for the film and the ending is apt. I would love to see Dhanush directing more such films. Don’t miss.
