4 out of 5 stars

Your perfect Valentine weekend film. After a long time, we have an enjoyable rom-com. The film is about two childhood friends – Ashok Selvan and Rithika. When Rithika suddenly proposes to Ashok, he accepts without realising that he is not ready to take the relationship to the next level. What happens after and how the cameo of Vijay Sethupathi fits into the narrative is the basic plot. There is some good humour, fantasy and music. The highlight of the movie is the chemistry between the lead pair and ofcourse with Vani Bhojan too. Vijay Sethupathi underplays his role and fits perfectly into the narrative. There are numerous areas where one wrong step could have converted a serious romantic moment into a comedy (we have seen this happen in many films) yet the director has perfectly balanced them to bring out the right emotion. Kudos to director Ashwath. There are some scenes in the first half that are slow but thankfully they are few. Watch the film in theatre. PS: I have this general bias towards well-made romantic movies. You may or may not agree with the rating but you will definitely agree that your time was not wasted.
