So touching that it gave me a sleepless night. There are several scenes that will make you cry and so you need to watch the film with a bunch of tissues. The film deals with the rape of an 8-year-old girl and how the little girl and the family come to terms with the harsh realities of the world we live in. It is a must watch for parents of young children. The film also points out to many social concerns such as the legal system loopholes, liquor shops near schools, role of media, etc. The acting by some is very amateurish and that does not help the film. The little girl is fantastic and is the life of the film. The father’s characterization is excellent. The pain the father undergoes…. only fathers with daughters can really understand. Abhinaya has acted well as the mother but the poor dubbing makes her emotions misplaced. Her usual dubbing artist could have done a better job. The film is not your usual masala and it is bound to leave your eyes wet. The music is brilliant and especially one song, “Mann meethu pennai” rings in your ears for few hours after the film. There is one thing that I can’t tolerate…not giving credit to the original. The film is a blatant copy of Koran film, HOPE (aka WISH) but the director has not acknowledged it. True, certain scenes could have been modified to match our region but the soul of the film is a stolen one and it requires courage to admit. This director didn’t have it.
