Another heart warming film from director Premkumar. His previous film “96” was a conversational movie over a night involving two ex lovers. This one follows a similar pattern between two people from the same village. Aravindswami who moved out of the village as a young boy returns to his village for a family function. He meets Karthi who showers him with affection. The whole film is about their conversations. The film is brilliantly made with excellent dialogues, great acting by both the lead actors, Govind Vasantha’s soul stirring music and great cinematography. The film has several touching moments where even the audience get soaked in Karthi’s love. The only drawback is the 3hr runtime especially one long stretch of conversation on Cholas that tests our patience. Similarly the jallikattu sequence and the shooting incidents appear forced to uphold Karthi’s real life image. A few logical loopholes can be overlooked. If the director/editor had trimmed 15-20min of such uneasy portions this could have become a masterpiece. Go for it.
