A classic scary movie that should not be missed. Kudos to director Ashwin Saravanan for choosing a horror theme and not deviating from the plot. There is no unnecessary comedy or songs that come in the way of narration. The casting is perfect. There are two plots: Two friends discussing a horror novel is shot in black & white and Nayantara as a young mother who is struggling with her little one (after moving away from her husband) is shot in colour. Both have their scary moments and when the director tries to link the two, it turns even more haunting. The climax is a gem. I am unable to appreciate certain scenes because I don’t want to spoil your fun. Music and Cinematography are excellent and these two departments have worked in unison. There are scenes that are completely dark yet you can visualise what is in store and thats the brilliance of this combo. There are no loopholes. The climax is a bit stretched and some of the scenes could have been avoided. Definitely not for the faint hearted or kids (though the film carries a U/A certificate). I particularly loved the references to hollywood movies and the extensive research the directorial team has done on this front. This is a hat-trick….a long feared taboo has been broken for the third time after Jigathanda and Kathai Thiraikathai Vasanam Iyakkam…Oops.
