A mass film that works partly due to the action sequences and characterization. Vijay Anthony knows his strength and picks up scripts that suits him best. In this film he comes to Chennai to fulfil his mother’s dream of becoming an IAS officer. However, like in most such films, he locks horns with some local politicians. What happens after that and how he becomes Kodiyil Oruvan forms the plot. For a Vijay Anthony film, the music is a big let down. The action scenes however are shot well. The film depends a lot on coincidences and many scenes are illogical. Yet, the film works because like the people in the film, we all want a Kodiyil Oruvan to come and solve our problems.
