4.5 out of 5 stars

Wow! A fantastic reflection on the society we live in and a mirror for us to look at ourselves. Yet another brilliant film from Raju Murugan who gave us Cuckoo. This film is good at many levels. I am not sure when I last saw such a bold tamil film. A film that mocks our political system and every politician. When the movie starts we see Somasundaram a simple villager getting dressed in a safari suit and claiming to be the President of India. Several villagers play along with him and infact even the police call him as President and salute him. Within the first 10min you get so engrossed in the film and start clapping for every dialogue. The main character might sound absurd but that’s what makes the entire film interesting. The film starts taking a serious tone with the flashback and ends in an extraordinary climax which just turns the table and makes you realise who the joker is. Actor Somuasundaram is a perfect fit to the a people’s President role. An award deserving performance. Sean Roldan’s songs and BGM are the films biggest asset. Every song is different. The film however belongs to Raju Murugan and his dialogues. Be it political satire or rural love or serious angry remarks, they just stand out and makes your visit to the theatre worthy. The second half is a bit stretched but it helps balance the film. If you follow tamilnadu politics you will like the film even more. A must watch.
