Isai is long (3hr 10min), slow at times, has a lot of self indulgence and is confused too; yet it is watchable because it a pure S.J.Suryah film after a long time. The plot has been discussed by media for a long time. A famous music director (Sathyaraj) loses his spot to a new comer (SJS) and wants to bring the newcomer down by all means. The first half tests your patience with some unwanted dialogues, while the audience are more interested in the love chemistry (SJ Suryah ssshtyle) between the hero and new comer Savithri. Savithri hides nothing from the audience and every scene involving her gets the maximum response. The second half changes gear and the climax is indeed different. The twists are good. Sathyaraj is brilliant in his villainous role. It is such a joy to watch him. Every scene involving Sathyaraj is a scream especially the one where he gets Ganja Karuppu to give him coffee. Brilliant. SJ Suryah has also scored the music and surprisingly has come up with great songs and excellent BGM. The dialogues are apt and the film has his trademark stamps in many scenes. Parents: The film has a lot of adult content and hence you cannot take your unmarried kids. Unmarried Kids: The film has a lot of adult content and hence watch it without your parents.
