“My name is Gokul. I have this passion for movies. My parents asked me to study and I decided to study movies. Then one day it came… it swept me completely off my feet…The songs of #ENPT. loved the songs and waited for this film. I thought I will not live to see this film and decided to enjoy life by just listening to the songs. All good things have to come to an end and the film released. Dhanush falls in love with an actress, Megha Aakash. Like most heroines, she didn’t realize that an entire theatre is in love with her and she too goes for Dhanush. Her villain guardian keeps forcing her to act in movies. Our hero calls him ‘Baadu’ but the heroine starts singing some of our favorite songs. Well that is life. The unexpected happens when life happens unexpectedly. Such a lovey romance with typical GVM voice overs and Dharbika Siva’s songs, I don’t have a choice but to fall in love with the first half. I decide that this is going to be a beautiful love story but then the story takes a turn. I know the director wants me to turn with him and go the action route but the lover boy in me refuses. I wait and wait for the director to come to senses and get back to what we want but he has his own agenda and tortures is with another Acham Yenbadhu Madamaiyada. Every scene turns stupid and I wonder if I am the stupid one waiting for something sensible. Classic example is Dhanush’s long lost brother who keeps visiting him and his family without their knowledge though both of them love each other (!!). When Maruvarthai Pesadhey features with Dhanush trying to lipsync the lyrics, I decide to take a lot of sleeping pills, forget the movie and listen to the songs once again at home and wait for some bullet to pierce me”. Ps. Sorry to have tortured you with a first person narrative with some philosophy in between but imagine an entire film being narrated in first person with some poetry, philosophical and love dialogues in between. Ayoooo. Why couldn’t the director just stick to romance genre instead of making this an action kichadi.
