2.5 out of 5 stars

Once watchable for Rajni. A really good first half gets completely wasted by an ordinary second half. Rajni is a Super Cop who is brought to Mumbai to better the city. He immediately gets into the act and arrests drug and girl trafficking. The villain goes after Rajni and the film is about how the cop wins. The screenplay in the first half is really good. The director uses some intelligent techniques like in Thuppaki. With some good punch dialogues and twists the first half breezes through. The second half also starts well with a good fight scene in metro station. Immediately after the fight the tempo slowly goes down and ends in an uninspiring climax. Nivedha Thomas as the daughter is very good. Yogi Babu’s comedy is passable. The romance scenes involving Nayanthara is mostly a drag. The film didn’t need a heroine and few songs. Anirudh’s songs are a letdown and BGM is loud and repetitive. The film stands out due to Rajini’s mass moments and screen presence. Unfortunately Murugadoss seems to have missed an opportunity to convert the film into a blockbuster. Probably the director didn’t have time to work on the screenplay for second half.
