3.5 out of 5 stars

Chandiveeran starts slowly with a few predictable love scenes. The film slowly picks pace, moves to a tense second half and ends in a great climax. The film is about two villages that fight over water. Atharva is from the village that has water and he falls in love with the village big man’s (Lal) daughter. The fight for water breaks with Atharva and his love at the centre. Atharva has tried hard to act and succeeds to certain extent. There is a mild comedy that runs throughout the film. There is also a strong message in the film and director Sargunam like before drives it home clearly. It is not often that you see such social messages striking the right chords. There are many times when the film loses pace and the director could have edited some unwanted scenes that dampen the proceedings.
