3 out of 5 stars

The film has awards written all over it but unfortunately, I couldn’t relate to it. The film is about a maid in Mexico and the family she works for. The story happens in 1970 over a period of one year. The best part of the film is it’s cinematography and Alfonso Cuarón’s brilliant direction. The black and white photography takes you well into the story. The main actors have played their part extremely well especially the person who acted as the maid. The film had some subtle humour like the way the car gets parked in the house. It is supposed to be a film that touches your heart because of some intensely emotional scenes. Probably, I expected a lot more from a film that everyone is raving out and is expected to win the Oscar for best foreign language film.
