3.5 out of 5 stars

The film should be watched for excellent performance from the lead actors, Tom Hanks and Meryl Streep. The film is based on a real-life story involving some Washington Post editors who want to publish some classified documents relating to Vietnam war that will expose the US government. Meryl Streep is the owner of the newspaper and the film basically focuses on her social life and how she makes the most important decision of her life. She is brilliant with several expressions. No doubt, she is considered as one of the greatest actresses of our times. Tom Hanks as the chief editor has given another fantastic performance. The biggest drawback of the film is Steven Spielberg’s direction. The film does not have any intense moments nor are there any emotional scenes. It is a linear film with no twists and hence makes the narrative ordinary. I also felt New York Times was more courageous and didn’t understand why Washington Post’s role was more appreciated. Probably, I don’t understand the issue as much. Watch the film for Meryl Streep and Tom Hanks.
