4.5 out of 5 stars

A lovely film that keeps you engrossed despite having several characters and back & forth narration. The film is set in the 18th century and runs us through the lives of four sisters (Meg, Jo, Amy and Beth). Each sister has their own interests and live life the way they want. The path that they take, sacrifices they make and destination they reach is narrated in an interesting manner. The movie clearly belongs to director Greta Gerwig. It is not easy to remake a film that was made four times earlier. Her brilliant and academy award deserving adapted screenplay is the highlight of this film. Top that with brilliant acting performances from Saorise Ronan, Emma Watson, Florence Pugh, Laura Dern and Meryl Streep, it makes the film as something that cannot be missed. Saorise Ronan is simply wow and is a wonderful actor. The music by Alexandre Desplat deserves an Oscar though I want Thomas Newman to win it.
