4.5 out of 5 stars

is another great film from the ace director, Rajkumar Hirani. A biopic on Sanjay Dutt honestly was not something that I was keen to watch. I neither followed him so closely nor did I want to know more about him. However, from the very first scene the director managed to win my attention and he did that till the very end. It is obvious that the director has presented Sanjay Duty’s side of the story and there could always be another side. The director even tries to glorify him at times…well those are the cinematic liberties which the director forewarned is about and I am glad he did that. Who wants to watch the story of a loser? We watch Khalnayak because in the end he becomes a Nayak. The film is once in a life time one for Ranbir Kapoor and he is absolutely brilliant with an award deserving performance. Every character has played their part to perfection especially Paresh Rawal as Sunil Dutt. I was surprised to see a handful of people contributing in the music department. The hero is not perfect and yet we like him despite his flaws. This is the brilliance of the director. Don’t miss this film.
