4 out of 5 stars

Wow! What a film and what a performance. While Dunkirk is about saving those stranded in the French coast, this film is about the decision made by Winston Churchill to successfully launch that operation. The film traces the World War II period from Churchill becoming the Prime Minister of UK and how he faces his colleagues who want a truce negotiation with Hitler while their soldiers are surrounded in Dunkirk. Gary Oldman is brilliant as Winston Churchill and there is a high chance that he will walk away with an Oscar for his performance. I love Joe Wright’s film making style especially Atonement. In this film he is super brilliant. Be it the introduction scene where we wait eagerly for Churchill or the ending scene, absolute delight. The dialogues, cinematography and music are also top class. A must watch.
