3.5 out of 5 stars

Another Thuppaki kinda movie from AR Murugadoss. The film works because of his interesting screenplay and great performance from Mahesh Babu and SJ Suryah. Mahesh Babu works in a job that involves listening to people’s calls and acting on any distress calls. He prefers this job because it helps prevent crime before it happens. One such call goes wrong and that leads him on the hunt for a serial killer. The film has an interesting backstory and there are several intelligent scenes involving the hero which keeps us hooked to the film. The interval segment and the cat-mouse scenes involving SJ Suryah and Mahesh are very good. The heroine character is actually not required for this film and all the scenes involving Rakul Preet and the Friends with Benefit concept act as a big speed breaker. Also the graphic is amateurish for such a big film. Be it the fight with Bharath in a roller coaster or the rolling stone or the end hospital scene could have been a lot better with good CG work. Harris has done a good job with the BGM (though it reminds you of Thuppaki) but the songs are mostly a distraction. Just when you think the movie is over, the director drags it to another climax. Still the film is an interesting action thriller with a stylish hero and a brilliant psycho villain.
