Lokesh’s weakest film. The film starts the usual Lokesh Kanakaraj way where we are introduced to a harbour. Nagarjuna rules this harbour. We then get to meet Rajni as a mansion owner. When Rajni’s friend Sathyaraj gets killed, he tries to find the killer. This takes him to the harbour. How he solves the problems of the Coolies and takes his revenge forms the plot. Rajni is perfect as the aged mansion owner. He has acted well. However, the shoe stealer is Soubin Shahir. He is brilliant as Nagarjuna’s henchman. Nagarjuna is stylish. Anirudh’s music is too loud and repetitive. He continues to believe that loud music is mass music and this doesnt work always. The first half is good and the interval block is also interesting. However, the film falters big time in the second half and drags a lot. It is not clear as to what is the motive of Rajni. His friendship with Sathyaraj is not established well. Shruthi Hassan’s character is also not written well. The cameos of Upendra and Aamir Khan appear to be forced to fit into the Jailer template. Clearly Lokesh seems to be under pressure to give a massive hit and this seems to have had a negative impact. Rajni fans may like this but not the rest.
