4.5 out of 5 stars

Wow!! This movie impressed me on many counts and the significant ones are the bold theme it has touched upon and the conversational genre similar to Richard Linklater’s Before Sunrise type of movies. The story happens at a time when there are some riots happening in Chennai. A lonely young Muslim lady (Mirnaa) hears a severe knock at her door. She sees a wounded Kalaiarasan at her doorstep. While initially she hesitates to let him in, when he faints, being a nurse by profession, she decides to get him in and treat him. The rest of the movie is about the conversations that happen between the two. The conversation touches upon their backgrounds and most importantly talks a lot the relevance of some of the religious practices. The movie doesn’t hurt any sentiments yet it comes out as one of the boldest Tamil film made in recent times. The relationship between the two is narrated in a fantastic manner. The dialogues are spot on. The ending is very good. Mirnaa as Najma is super cute and acted well. The character reminded me of Amala in Mella Thiranthathu Kathavu. Kalaiyarasan has also played his part well. The running time of 80min is just apt. Don’t miss the film because this is the start of something new.
