3.5 out of 5 stars

A well made biography on Jayalalitha. The makers decided to be non-controversial by sticking to a story that talks about Jaya’s film career and ends when she first becomes Chief Minister. The film belongs to director Vijay, writer Vijeyendra Prasad and some fine acting by Kangana (as Jaya) and Arvindswamy (as MGR). While the makers have said that this is a work of fiction everyone knows the references made in the film. The film deals only with known parts of the story and hence there are no surprises. While too much importance has been given to RMV character, the makers didn’t want any character to be made as villain. Arvindswamy is perfect. Kangana’s lip movements don’t work but her hardwork to portray Jaya is clearly visible. The film drags many a times because of lack high moments. The semi romantic scenes between the lead pair leaves the audience confused. The film being a half biography leaves you with an incomplete feeling.
