4.5 out of 5 stars

A film that should not be missed. A slap on the face of patriarchy. The story is simple yet powerful. A new bride enters her husband’s home. How her life changes in the name of customs and the patriarchy in our society is narrated like the way you peel an onion. The way the husband does yoga while the wife cleans her home, the disgusting eating habits of the family and the whole Sabarimala issue and it’s linkage to our ancient customs is narrated beautifully. The scene where she is taught how to make tea is brilliantly conceived. The film has to be watched by everyone and hope it brings at least some change or at least a realisation. Some parts of the narrative could be slow and repetitive. While the repetitiveness is necessary to show the pain, the editing could have been crispier.
