This is a must watch anthology film. Four top directors (Vetrimaaran, Sudha Kongara, Vignesh Shivn and Gautham Menon) have collaborated and direct each of these films. There are four stories on some important topics such as caste/religion/gender/honour/violence against women and many more. All the four stories are very good. Vetrimaaran’s film is very intense and his master story telling ability keeps you hooked even during lighter scenes. GV Prakahs’s music is a big plus along with Sai Pallavi and Prakashraj’s acting. Sudha’s storyline is weak but is balanced by superior performances by Kalidas Jayaraman as a transgender and Shanthanu Bhagyaraj as Thangam. The movie is the most touching one, yet Thangam’s inability to understand Sathar is a sore point. Justin Prabhakar’s song and BGM were fantastic. Vignesh’s film is both entertaining and thought provoking. This is the one I enjoyed the most because of the characterization and the director’s clever storytelling. Anirudh seems to have had fun with the music and the rap song. GVM’s film hits you hard and leaves you with a lump that is hard to swallow. We watched this again with our teenage son and daughter to let them know how because of few bad individuals the world we live in is turning dangerous. If only GVM could have cut down his cuss words and the make the acting realistic, this could have become a classic. Overall, one of the best in recent times.
