4 out of 5 stars

A good biopic on Captain Gopinath with a lot of masala mix. The story is known to all. How a simple person from a village fulfills his dream of starting a low cost airline. Director Sudha Kongara has added a lot of fiction and tried to make the film a mass entertainer. While this works at times, sometimes it looks amateurish (like the flight landing in army camp with fire in its wheels). Suriya has played the lead role to perfection. However, it is the heroine Aparna who is fantastic in living the character of an independent village girl who has a success story of her own. The film has several highs and all of them work thanks to the brilliant music from GV Prakash. He is super. The dialogues are great. The film talks about equality in a loud and effective way. Kudos. The only low points are the initial love episodes which drags the film and doesn’t make sense. Personally, I didn’t like the scene where Suriya slaps his wife. Violence against women shouldn’t be shown even if it is a movie and even if it later leads to a patch up. Top heroes should be more responsible.
