A pucca mass film. This film comes from the director (ArunKumar)-actor (VijaySethupathi) combo whose earlier film was a good love story with a Fiat car. Firstly, their move to test a different genre is worth appreciating and on top of that they have come up with such an entertaining action film that works extremely well with the audiences. Sethupathi is a police officer whose investigation of a policeman’s death leads him to a local don, Vathiyaar. Meanwhile Sethupathi gets into a trouble. How he manages to get out and also avenge the death of the policeman forms the basic plot. There are many interesting scenes that builds the mass elements. Nivas K Prasanna’s music lists the mood further (esp the song rendered by Anirudh). The subtle comedy throughout the movie is also enjoyable. Ramya Nabeesan is good but certain love scenes are a bit stretched. The director seems to have gone a bit overboard with romance though it is enjoyable. You need to go on time to watch the enjoyable opening song as there is no statutory cigarette and alcohol advertisement. The director deserves another special appreciation for making a movie without the customary drinking scene.
