3.5 out of 5 stars

A realistic movie. The film is set in 1930s and is about the plight of slaves in British tea plantations. The film is slow and totally non-commercial. Excellent acting by all especially Atharva Murali. Cinematography is top notch. Music by GV Prakash is average. Someone like Illayaraja could have transported you to the 1930s only with his music. You can like or hate Bala…you can talk good about his movies or totally hate them…what you cannot do is not watch his films or not talk about it. He is the best for real tamil cinema and I can bet that no one else could have taken such a film so efficiently. A definite milestone in his career. If only the director had made some compromises, this could have been a commercial success too. Now, it is only fit for lovers of different cinema.
