Wow! Baahubali is breathtaking and indeed makes you feel proud. A film that has a large canvas and fills it to a great extent. We would have never seen such a grand movie in Indian cinema. The very first scene where Ramya Krishnan holds a baby above the water makes you realise that the film is going to have many such unbelievable yet mass moments. This is director SS Rajamouli’s biggest strength, he makes you admire those unbelievable scenes. Be it an Indian college where students play Rugby (Sye) or one person fighting an army of hundred (Magadheera) or a fly taking revenge (Eega); he has always made us admire and this film is no exception. The story is as old as the period in which it takes place. A prince is saved as a baby and grows up with a tribe. There comes a moment when he realises his true identity. Prabhas has a great body and hence is shirtless most of the time. It is a joy to see him after a long time and he has done complete justice to the action scenes. Tamannah is extra glamorous. Rana as the villain is good. Anushka has little screen presence as a middle aged lady, one needs to wait for the second part to see her (yes this is only the first part incase you did not know). The war sequence is mind blowing and has been very well shot. The last 30min will completely keep you hooked. Such a war scene has never been shown in our cinema. Technically the film is brilliant in every aspect: music, VFX, cinematography, art direction, costumes et all. Every scene has the director’s stamp especially the interval block where every person chants the name Baahubali is a scream. The film is slow in the first half as the director tries to introduce the characters. The film ends abruptly with a small twist after the war and increases your expectation on the next part.
