2.5 out of 5 stars

A kid movie in the first half and falls flat in the second half when it tries to get serious. In the first half the film’s focus is on Tenaliraman stories. These are the ones that we have heard or read as kids and with Vadivelu in the lead role it is even more entertaining. It is such a treat to see Vadivelu after so many years. He is brilliant as the king and as Tenaliraman. Though there is not a single joke where you LOL, the very sight of him and his dialogue delivery makes you enjoy most scenes. In the second half the film gets serious with social messages and this puts off the audience. The heroine is OK. Music disappoints. Production Value is very good and the richness of the film is seen in every scene. My son enjoyed the first half because he knew those stories. So did I. Watch the film only for Vadivelu but remember this is not a Pulikesi.
