This seems to be director’s season. Pa Ranjith, the director of Attakathi has come up with one of the best North Madras films. Hats off to the director for such a realistic film with brilliant screenplay. The whole film revolves around a wall. Two politicians fight over the ownership of a wall to draw political images and that leads to a lot of blood shed for decades. Karthi is a resident in that area and he gets entangled in this fight. What happens is told in a racy and thrilling way. Finally, Karthi has his much-needed hit. The first half is super-fast and at intermission, you feel like hugging the director for such a brilliant effort. Post interval, the film slows down with repetitive predictable scenes. Yet, the film is a must watch for giving us a glimpse into the life of some interesting characters and realistic portrayal of political fight over walls (I have seen such fights when campaigns were based on wall drawings). Santosh Narayanan’s music is out of this world and he continues to amaze me with his brilliant music. He lifts the film to a different level. Heroine Catherine has done a good job too. I am now eagerly waiting for Ranjith’s next film.
