4 out of 5 stars

Another gem from Rajkumar Hirani. A director’s movie that gets even better due to Aamir Khan’s presence. Aamir lands in earth from an alien planet. He gets robbed of his remote which is his only accessory to return back. During his search for his remote, he gets accustomed to the lifestyle and learns our language. He also starts questioning the various practices including our wrong beliefs, customs and the various religious sentiments. Anushka a TV reporter meets him and is intrigued by his behaviour. She hears his story and believes it after a few encounters. She promises help in finding his remote. Did Aamir find the remote and what happens in that process forms rest of the story. The film is both hilarious as well as thought provoking. Unfortunately, it reminds us a lot about a similar film, “Oh My God” and hence certain scenes in the first half appear to be stretched. The director who is also the editor should have taken care of this once he realised that he has made his point. The second half is racy and touching. Aamir is one of India’s finest actors and he pushes the bar higher with his excellent portrayal of PK. His body language (doesn’t blink throughout the movie), dialogue delivery and style are a delight to watch. Anushka has supported him very well. Like in his earlier films, the director introduces a new concept, “Wrong Number”. This has been dealt very well and the film also addresses some real concerns that prevail in our world. There are some scenes that will wet your eyes. This film is no 3 Idiots or Munnabhai but it is unfair to expect one every time. Nevertheless, this is a film that should not be missed. Hats off to Rajkumar Hirani for his consistency in delivering such fine films.
