4.5 out of 5 stars

A fantastic film. Full credit to director KV Anand and his co-writers Subha. The trio have come up with a refreshing story that is completely new to tamil audiences. It is a love story that extends from one birth to another (I love such themes). The film starts in 1960s Burma and then goes to 1980s and then the current time period. There is also a much earlier royal story which is covered briefly. The success of the film is in the way the story has been integrated and explained. It is so simple that the audience will never get confused. Dhanush is brilliant. He once again proves that he is one of the best actors in tamil cinema by playing multiple characters with ease. Every role is a cake walk for him and plays them effortlessly. He also excels in the dancing and action scenes. Amyra as Dhanush’s love is good too. Karthik plays an important role. The villains are good too. Harris’ songs are good but a couple of them are not placed well and has the audience going out for a smoke. However, the recent hit “Danga Maari” has been picturized very well and has the audience in their feet. There are a few english films with similar theme and ofcourse the telugu hit, Maghadeera. Yet, the director needs to be appreciated for taking this in tamil and delivering it in a simple manner. The film is a complete entertainer and a must watch.
