5 out of 5 stars

InsideOut is mind blowing. One of the best animated features in recent times. Clearly another pixar great. It took me two days to write this review because I wanted the movie to stay with me for more time. The storyline is complicated and it is even more difficult to explain. The five emotions (Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear and Disgust) of a little girl try to help her settle down when she moves to a new town. However, when Joy and Sadness get lost in her mind, all hell breaks lose. It is important for Joy and Sadness to reach the headquarter before it is too late. The script is brilliant with the finest detailing. You keep wondering how someone can think of such a stroyline and these are reasons why I love movies. The imaginary friend, memory cleansers, core memory, memory dump, emotion headquarters of Dad…every little piece is enjoyable. This is a film for the grown-ups and the kids may not enjoy as much….unless you read the story and brief them before you get them to watch. Most importantly, be there on time or ahead of time. The pixar short film, “Lava”, that is played at the start of the movie is something that you should not miss. A classic short film about a lonely Lava mountain that waits for a partner…it will move you to tears. Brilliant.
