A great start to reboot the franchise. Being a fan for almost 3 decades, I kept wondering for a long time as to why there has been no attempt to reboot. Walt Disney has timed it to perfection! They managed to get a whole new generation of fans to enjoy the film alongside the previous ones. It is easy for the original fanboys to comment that the film is a rehash and didn’t have a new storyline. What is important is to come up with something new for those who haven’t watched the earlier 6 Episode to understand and also satisfy the ones who were waiting eagerly to catch a glimpse of the Skywalkers, Their favourite Droids and the Millennium Falcon. Kudos to director, JJ Abrams for doing that effectively. The film starts 30years after Episode 6, when The First Order tries to rule the galaxy and crush The Resistance. Luke Skywalker has disappeared. Princess Leia leads the resistance fighting the threat and also trying to locate Luke. The film introduces a new set of characters who support the resistance against a new villain Kylo Ren. The film has a lot of fan moments. Cinematography and Special Effects are top notch. An Oscar needs to be reserved for the brilliant composer, John Williams. I hope he gets back to his winning ways after the two decade long wait. The characters have been chosen with care and they fit perfectly. It was nice to see a lo of cameos but in a blink and you will miss roles or with voice overs…the funniest being the cameo from Daniel Craig. If he can do that, then I too can claim that I acted in the film as FN-2188 😉
