4.5 out of 5 stars

A brilliant film and is worthy of being a case study on film making. Credit goes to Director Alejandro for making an interesting and engaging film. Story-wise it is a simple revenge saga. Leonardo is a local who gets attacked by a bear during a hunting expedition. His hunting team had to abandon him due to his critical health condition. They leave a couple of people to take care him but they abandon him too. Does he survive and how he does that forms the plot. This is a career best role for Leo and yes even without the sentiments surrounding his oscar award, he will surely go on to win one for his outstanding performance. He has just lived the role and you feel like you are always with him in his ordeal. Tom Hardy shines again in another brilliant role. Cinematography with natural lighting will surely win an oscar for Emmanuel Lubezki. Music score is also excellent…especially the bear fight scene. The film truly deserves the multiple oscar nominations and will surely go on to win some.
