2 out of 5 stars

This could have been a good film if only the director hadn’t taken himself seriously. There is too much self-indulgence that spoils the film. Samuthrakani is an ambulance driver who loves his profession. He follows Gandhian principles. Once he happens to cross the path of Namo Narayanan when he saves the life of a person whom NN’s men hacked in the middle of the road. The film then moves to other sub plots where the director reforms a few people. The film comes back on track when NN and our hero face-off again. The film talks about too many things, non-violence, plight of women, jallikattu, hydro carbon project, current political situation and many more. Sometimes, the film even appears like the hero’s political launchpad. The dialogues are good and are enjoyable, but they don’t help the film. The climax is artificial. An intelligent director like Samuthrakani should have realised this and ensured that he focused on the basic plot and avoid making the film too preachy.
