Azhagi Part 2. In the first part Nanditha Das comes from a poor background and Parthiban was well off. In this film, Prabhudeva is a poor taxi driver who saves the life of a rich man (Prakashraj) only to realise that Prakashraj’s wife Bhoomika is his ex-lover. Prabhudeva tries to avoid her but fate brings them together when Prakashraj forces him to take up a job in his company and stay with him. The old memories disturb both the lovers and how they manage forms the plot. The film is quite dated because it is releasing almost after a decade since it was originally shot. Interestingly there a scenes involving agitations against liquor shops and corrupt politician. Though this makes the film look current, it only reflects that in reality our plight has not changed. All the characters talk about political issues and this is alien to the core plot of the film. There is even a May Day song which is placed wrongly. The songs are good but are no match to Azhagi. The love scenes and emotional ones are actually good. Prabhudeva, Bhoomika, Prakashraj have all played their parts well. The film could have worked better if it had released a few years after Azhagi.
