3.5 out of 5 stars

A comedy based on the life of Dolemite who became famous in the 1970s with blaxploitation movies. Eddie Murphy is Dolemite. He works in a record store and performs as a standup comedian. One day he gets an idea to make a standup comedy tape for the black audience. One thing leads to another and he decides to make a blaxploitation film. The film is a fun ride. Eddie Murphy is brilliant, and it is sad he was overlooked for the Oscars. The film is not suitable for kids because of the language and content. I am now keen to watch the original Dolemite movies.
