4.5 out of 5 stars

A brilliant film that makes you stand up and clap when the film ends. I was a big fan of Mari Selvaraj’s Marakkave Ninaikiren in Vikatan and was so looking forward to this film. When a film has Pa Ranjith’s name in it, by now we know that it will talk about Dalit politics. This film is indeed on casteism. However, this is a hard hitting, sentimental and also an entertaining film to watch. This is about a dalit student and his college life. Kathir is known for choosing good scripts and in this case the script has chosen him. Anandhi has acted very well too. Yogi Babu is hilarious and makes the film enjoyable. When the film starts with Karuppi song, you don’t know the characters yet you will find it difficult to control your emotions. This is the moment that you will realize that Mari Selvaraj is going to give a good film and he doesn’t disappoint. Santhosh Narayanan’s music is again big plus and his experimental tunes work big time. The film doesn’t answer any questions or offer a solution. It highlights a problem known to all and that is the only drawback. This is a must watch film.
